    Role Summary

    The Benefits Specialist provides front-line Benefit Department customer service to FT, PT and Union employees. The candidate will administer MSG’s employee benefit programs with a primary focus on retirement plans, but also supporting health and welfare and related programs, as needed. This role ensures deduction and funding accuracy and timely remittance; prepares, reviews and administers department invoices; and prepares reconciliation reports.

    Specific Functions/Activities Summary

    • Monitor, update and correct 401k and retirement plan processing and payroll issues, including reconciling data errors
    • Process and reconcile monthly and quarterly vendor invoices
    • Assist with Health Savings Account administration and remittances
    • Respond to vendor and employee inquiries and resolve employee issues related to Retirement plans (and fringe benefits)
    • Conducts front line customer service for the department via in person one on one, group meetings, phone and email
    • Support (as back-up) the Fringe Benefit remittance process
    • Support and respond to internal and external audit and survey requests
    • Assist with the coordination between Legal, Compliance and 401k service providers, as needed, on plan changes, divestitures, acquisitions, QDROs, data clean-up, etc.
    • Perform other projects and duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 1-3 Years’ experience in the Benefits/Retirement plan field with previous experience as a Benefits Administrator, Benefits Representative, Benefits Coordinator or Benefits Specialist desirable.
    • Prior knowledge of benefits administration and related laws and regulations in the all private or not for profit sectors.
    • Bachelor’s Degree. Concentration in HR, Finance preferred.

    Education

    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
