    Role Summary

    Position works closely with Chief Communications Officer to drive communications activities and support key corporate priorities, including the Company’s growth plans. Position is specifically focused on helping the CCO plan and execute the company’s communications on financial performance (for MSG and MSG Networks), corporate strategy and other significant developments across the corporation. Additional responsibilities include media relations, crisis communications and other corporate responsibilities and initiatives.

    Position will help manage all aspects of the company’s financial communications, working closely with the CCO, investor relations, legal, finance and corporate development on preparation and materials development for disclosures, financial transactions, earnings announcements, SEC’s filings, shareholder meetings, etc. Position serves as a company spokesperson and works closely with investor relations on all investor/public communications, ensuring messages are consistent with public positioning.

    Position also supports the Company’s management of matters/issues that affect its businesses or public personalities. Position works closely with the CCO, legal and business units to develop effective communications plans to protect the Company and its businesses, while interacting with media as needed. This includes the development of rapid response strategies.

    Position takes part in regular meetings and maintains close contact with counterparts across the company to ensure full awareness of pertinent information. Position is responsible for establishing and maintaining targeted media relationships that benefit the company, including forging a wide range of contacts that advance the Company’s interests. Position oversees communications activities that support the Company’s executives, including opportunities for speaking engagements, and media training.

    Position is also responsible for helping to establish processes that ensure efficient and effective practices across the department, and for assisting in the ongoing quality and updating of corporate communications materials, such as media policies, executive bios, websites.

    Specific Functions/Activities Summary

    • Work closely with Chief Communications Officer to support key priorities and elevate corporate communications function
    • Responsible for all aspects of the financial communications for the company, working closely with the CCO and counterparts in legal, investor relations, and finance on preparation and materials development for disclosures, earnings announcements (for MSG and MSG Networks), SEC’s filings, investor meetings/conferences, shareholder meetings, etc.
    • Partner closely with investor relations on all investor/public communications and ensures messages are consistent with public positioning
    • Assist in developing strategic plans for major company announcements, controversies, crises, working closely with CCO and company leadership to ensure the strategies meet company objectives
    • Coordinate crisis response with legal, business units and interact with the media as needed in a timely and effective manner
    • Serves as a company spokesperson
    • Conduct strategic media outreach that supports the Company’s goals, enhances relationships and builds trust.
    • Identify and manage external agencies, when needed, to help drive specific company initiative.
    • Develop robust corporate communications program to support executive training and visibility.
    • Partner with CCO to develop policies and processes that improve department workflow.
    • Evaluate and oversee continual enhancement of key corporate materials that reflect the Company and its management, including bios, one-sheets, websites, boilerplates.

    • 12+ years in the public relations industry, with senior management responsibilities in financial communications

    • Oversees this department, approximately 1 person.

    Education

    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
