    Role Summary

    The Head of Social Media will lead the strategy across both established and emerging social media platforms for all MSG and its brands. This position will lead a team and build a strategy around fan engagement, community management, sponsored and branded social integrations, brand voice and building, as well as talent and influencer engagement. This position will also have a strong vision for what is compelling content and will lead a team that works on identifying innovative ways to grow audience and engagement for each brand/team across all social and digital platforms.

    Specific Functions/Activities Summary

    • Develop standards, systems and best practices for digital content creation, distribution, and measurement across all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter
    • Act as a brand steward throughout all digital content creation, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure all facets of our digital/social platforms appropriately represent each brand and maintain a consistent voice
    • Provide thought leadership and perspective of emerging technologies for adoption where appropriate, to keep the company at the forefront of developments in digital content delivery
    • Partner across the business to develop content solutions for external partnerships
    • Manage key internal and external relationships, ensure compliance with regulations as well as develop new solutions
    • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
    • Work closely with Insights and Analytics team on identifying digital KPIs that drive business results and optimize performance based on the insights
    • Maintain up-to-date understanding of digital/social “best practices” across competitive landscape
    • Develop industry relations and owns social platform relationships and best practices
    • Ability to monetize creative content through increased ticket sales and other means to be identified


    • 10 years of social media publishing, writing and content creation required
    • Forward-thinking, creative and solution-oriented
    • Self-starter with a hands-on approach, good instincts for prioritization and the ability to work under a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
    • Strong, senior relationships with social media platforms
    • Deep understanding of the social ecosystem and how brands should participate in an authentic way
    • Strong organizational and management skills
    • Knowledgeable of live entertainment and sports
    • Proficient in social media analytics and publishing tools
    • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and a team player who can build consensus across multiple constituencies


    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
