Responsibilities

The Director Team Digital Sales will be expected to drive significant digital sales growth as well as work with management to help train and assist all other MSG Marketing Partnership staff on the selling of digital inventory. They will work with digital team on website content, metrics, inventory and new ideas as well as maintain a strong working relationship with digital team including an effective flow of communication between departments. This role will develop all sales collateral for digital inventory along with Business Solutions. ‘Pitch’ digital sales both with staff and individually. Develop and launch new digital inventory pieces along with Business Solutions. Work with sales team on digital inventory included in all proposals. Develop and launch digital training along with SVP as needed. Establish and maintain connections with key digital people across the leagues and be fully aware and knowledgeable of the digital competition.

 

  • Develop relationships with agencies and other potential new partners to conduct digital capability presentations and sell digital assets to
  • Identify potential new decision makers for businesses currently being pursued (prospects) and work with sales teammates to pursue for digital revenue either with them or on their own
  • Sell Marketing Partnerships across all of MSG Sports (New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty) and Entertainment Properties
  • Work with teammates on development of all deals regarding digital elements – assure digital is pitched in all deals and provide reasons to management when it may not be. Help identify goals for digital campaigns with and for partners.
  • Attend sales meetings with MP Teammates to discuss/pitch the digital assets to partners and potential partners
  • Brainstorm new digital ideas based on prospects marketing goals; develop creative digital ideas exclusively for prospects
  • Develop digital sales collateral for all digital components on all deals along with Business Solutions.
  • Work closely with the digital team, marketing and account management to pull any relevant metrics needed
  • Overcome digital objections, both internally and externally
  • Conduct ongoing digital sales and product training with the Marketing Partnership Department
  • Operates almost like a digital selling agency for all the MSG Team digital assets
  • Deliver target revenue
  • Increase overall rates
  • Maximize profit margin of advertiser packages

Qualifications

  • 5 years sales experience in sports or related industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of the marketing and advertising industries with a particular focus on the sports and entertainment industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the New York sports and entertainment marketplace
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong sales/closing skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Works well with a broad cross section of functional teams
  • Is goal oriented and can promote a team atmosphere
  • Ability to develop strong relationships internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

 

Education

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
