The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the coordination, input, processing, verification and reporting of the payroll process function, including garnishment setup and reconciliation, payment requests for the various agencies, Tax Wire processing and preparation, and review of employee tax setup. This position requires an individual who can work well in a fast-paced, high volume environment.


  • Implement the weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly disbursement of multi-state, multi-location payroll, consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws and Labor to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Provide customer support to MSG employee inquiries which includes researching calls/inquiries from management and employees pertaining to their pay, and provide timely response.
  • Proactively identify potential issues with weekly and bi-weekly payroll and escalate appropriately through the proper communication channels.
  • Conduct independent reviews of all Payroll processing prior to confirmation to ensure accuracy of pay.
  • Assist with the auditing of Month End, Quarter End and Year End taxes and reconciling/audit of quarterly federal, state and local tax returns including the federal 941’s and the state and local equivalents.
  • Manage Third Party tax provider process for the preparation of Tax Filings, creating wire and check requests for Corp Finance. Review payments against the Payroll reports and the General Ledger interface file.
  • Coordinator the reconciliation of W2’s for multiple companies and the filing of Canadian T4 and Rl1 Forms.
  • Ensure timely and compliant response/set up of garnishments/Levies/Child Supports, including communicating to the employees. Will be the point person for the various Agency inquiries.
  • Handle subpoena requests for employee information.
  • Perform system review of employee tax setup and changes.
  • Routinely review/audit payroll documents to ensure compliance with SOX requirements and company policy.
  • Serve as back-up Manager for Payroll review confirmation, tax wire processing, and Direct Deposit file transmissions.
  • Provide ad hoc reports to management and other departments as needed.




Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5- 7 years’ experience in Cloud payroll, including payroll processing, tax processing and reporting expertise.
  • BA/BS degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of HCM or Oracle Fusion.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, knowledge of payroll principles and best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency using MS Office: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Automated Timekeeping System as it relates to payroll processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of garnishments and payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic and process to address work-related issues and problems.

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
