The Lead Engineer will be responsible for developing new features and extending existing features of our web apps. The engineer will also be required to understand all aspect of our platform including front end and backend technologies; develop high quality code, perform code reviews, write unit tests, optimize SQL, and conform to the latest best practices.

 

MAIN DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Architect and design scalable solutions for web related development
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to define, iterate and implement new features
  • Provide technical leadership around the delivery of component designs and development
  • Proven understanding of project tracking and Agile development methodologies.
  • Actively contribute to codebase
  • Breakdown tasks
  • Perform Code Reviews
  • Run team using Agile Methodology
  • Plan Sprints
  • Run Backlog grooming
  • Finalize tickets

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional full stack development using JavaScript, Ruby and/or Java
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with Engineering teams
  • Must have 2 – 3 years of experience in REACT, Express, REST api’s, Gulp
  • Experience in performance tuning web applications
  • Must have 2 – 3 years of experience with relational or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB. Experience with both relational and NoSQL is a big plus.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in one of popular agile practice, such as, Kanban, XP, TDD or Scrum.
  • Must have experience with some open source tools/frameworks for Agile processes such as Jenkins and Maven
  • Experience with some test driven development tools and techniques: Protractor, Mocha, Chai, Sinon,Mockito, REST-assured, Cucumber, and JMeter.
  • Exposure to build application services on Amazon cloud services (AWS) or other cloud environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams encompassing product, design, engineering, and analytics.
  • Eager to engage in a whiteboard discussion on any topic
  • Experience as a senior technical member of an Agile team and proven ability to influence
  • Experience developing responsive web applications for a range of devices and browsers is a strong plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A GitHub or BitBucket account with a pet project or two.
  • Experience with CSS, SASS
  • Experience with Selenium is a plus
  • Experience with React is a plus
  • Experience with developing api’s
  • Experience with JWT (Json web tokens)
  • Understanding of AWS + Docker deployment strategies.
  • S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with high traffic, consumer facing websites

 

 

Education

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
