Responsibilities

The Payroll Tax and Accounting Analyst is responsible for the coordination, processing, verification and reporting of the payroll tax function, including new state setup and tax reconciliation and payment requests for the various agencies. This position requires an individual who can work well in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

 

  • Filing Canadian Taxes
  • Responsible for Local Payroll Tax Filing (Where not handled by ADP)
  • Responsible for Filing Zero Returns
  • Generating and Distributing T4s
  • Tax Vendor Management
  • Coordinate State Tax Registrations with our tax department
  • Lead for responding to Tax Agency Inquiries/Audit Requests
  • Monitoring Tax Tracers (penalties, interest/refunds)
  • Coordinating Unemployment Rate Updates
  • Quarterly and Annual Tax Reconciliation
  • Process prior year payroll adjustments (W2C’s)
  • Responsible for the auditing of Month End, Quarter End and Year End taxes and reconciling/audit of quarterly federal, state and local tax returns including the federal 941’s and the state and local equivalents.
  • Completes Payroll Costing on weekly basis
  • Works closely with finance to research and resolve general ledger reconciling items
  • Coordinating the reconciliation of W2’s for multiple companies and the filing of Canadian T4 and Rl1 Forms.
  • Provide customer support to MSG employee inquiries which includes researching calls/inquiries from management and employees pertaining to their pay, and provide timely response.
  • Manage Third Party tax provider process for the preparation of Tax Filings, creating wire and check requests for Corp Finance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Cloud payroll, tax processing and reporting expertise.
  • BA/BS degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of HCM or Oracle Fusion.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, knowledge of payroll principles and best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency using MS Office: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic and process to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Collaborative in nature

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • A passion for customer service and bringing that to life within the function

Education

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
