This position provides accounting and finance support for the MSG Live and Venue Operations departments. 


This position will provide event support including tracking costs, preparation and upload of journal entries, account analysis, reporting, assisting with event settlements and generation of event Profit/Loss Statements. 


This position will also provide similar support for the Venue Operations expenses including the tracking and reporting of monthly/quarterly financial results.  This position will also provide support for the Food, Beverage and Merchandise operations including analysis of revenue performance. 


Significant focus will be the development of the Budget and Five Year Plan, Quarterly Forecasts and updating event P/Ls on a weekly basis for senior management reporting.


Finance & Accounting (90%)


  1. Venue Specific Financial Expertise – understanding all venue expenses, labor agreements, work rules and the applicable rate cards. The position will also review related third party transactions and utilities to ensure that accruals are accurate.  The Senior Financial Analyst will actively analyze the annual and monthly financial reporting processes to identify opportunities for efficiency or improvement.
  1. Event Specific Financial Support –the position will track event costs, assist with settlements, and account analysis – ensuring general ledger is accurate, manage accrued expenses, and analyze revenue and expense variances.  This includes the preparation and upload of journal entries.
  2. Venue Operations Finance – responsibilities include assisting the reporting of financial results to the VP/General Manager and his/her operational staffs.
  3. Food & Beverage; Merchandise – assist in month-end close, the reporting of flash results to senior management, review and JE posting of revenue / expense, provide analysis, and submit vendor payments to AP for processing.
  4. Budget and Five Year Plan/Quarterly Forecasts – assist in the production of the Forum’s Live and the Venue Operations Budgets and Five Year Plan.



Special Projects (10%)


The Senior Financial Analyst shall provide primary analytical support to critical special projects as assigned (e.g., union negotiations, performing rights organization reporting, competitive analysis, etc.).  This will include projects and reporting that cross divisions, requiring the Senior Financial Analyst to maintain positive working relationships across the company.

  1. Technical/Functional Competencies
  2. BS, BA or related degree (preferred in accounting or finance)
  3. Strong skills in Excel required
  4. Experience in Oracle, PeopleSoft, TM1 desired but not required
  5. Experience within the live entertainment industry preferred
  6. Experience in a union environment and dealing with multiple collective bargaining agreements preferred

  2. Experienced in high pressure live event environments


Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
