Responsibilities

BASIC FUNCTION

 

Responsible for providing a safe and guest friendly environment for each event at The Chicago Theatre. Work with House Manager(s) in controlling and monitoring building access. Assist House Manager(s) with guest issues and concerns. Control access to backstage areas and follow guidelines set by tour production.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Ensure protection of facilities, properties, employees and guests of The Chicago Theatre.
  2. Promote positive guest/client experience. Uphold commitment of MSG “Circle of Service” standards and MSG’s Mission and Values.
  3. Maintain professional manner, presence, and appearance at all times while on premises
  4. Arrive for scheduled shift on time and in proper attire as directed by Theatre Management.
  5. Prevent access to any areas of the facility by any unauthorized individuals.
  6. Accompany the Director of House Operations to security briefings and implement house approved requests from tour management.
  7. Conduct security pre-event staff meetings to inform security of pertinent event information and assign Event Security to designated posts.
  8. Responsible for training event security staff on House event procedures, including checking patron bags and screening of guests.
  9. Supervise security staff during events. Alert Director of House Operations of any misconduct immediately.  Assist Director of House Operations with employee counseling, as directed.
  10. Serve as a security escort and respond to security assistance calls during performances.
  11. Be prepared to implement and direct security staff during any Emergency Operations procedures (evacuation plan) through on-going training and drills. Assist Director of House Operations and first responders during Emergency situations.
  12. Assist Director of House Operations in law enforcement functions in and around facility, including traffic direction and public safety.
  13. Lock/unlock facility doors according to scheduled requirements.
  14. Assist Director of House Operations in scheduling event security for events and make recommendations for staff adjustments according to needs of the event, as directed
  15. Verify all security staff timesheets are correct and submit to Director of House Operations on
  16. Keep accurate account of security staff attendance – report any staff tardiness, call-offs, and no shows to the Director of House Operations

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. At least 1-2 years security management experience, preferably in a theatre environment.
  2. Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
  3. Will have the ability to enforce departmental policies and procedures with fairness and consistency and have prior supervisory experience.
  4. Have knowledge of radio communication protocol.
  5. Be familiar with basic safety and fire regulations and have prior experience in conflict resolution.
  6. Must be physically fit.
  7. Must have flexible availability including weekends, evening and holidays.
  8. Working knowledge of PC software programs (Microsoft Office) and email programs.
  9. Obtain Fire Guard Certificate
  10. Obtain AED/ CPR certification
