    Role Summary

    Obscura Digital is looking for a Director PM with experience managing complex projects involving media production, software development and client management. If you have experience with projection, LED / LCD technologies and architectural integration, even better. Producers at Obscura are responsible for managing projects from initiation to final delivery and installation.

    Specific Functions/Activities Summary

    • The Director PM will oversee the full lifecycle of Production management/Projects life cycle at Obscura
    • Work with leadership team and internal collaborators to shape and manage deliverables and internal and external client expectation
    • Manage and work with direct reports to create production schedules and budgets
    • This role will act as a production advisor on all relevant projects
    • As the department lead, this position will recruit, hire, and develop talent in line with creative and technological vision of Obscura
    • Maintain and drive production schedules in collaboration with OD leadership team
    • Possess a strong ability to translate chaotic information into plan of action
    • Proactively drive strategic workflow to move projects through studio
    • Work with Dept. Managers to oversee projects across all departments
    • Effectively enforce deadlines while maintaining an awareness of simultaneous projects across studio and competing priorities
    • Create cohesion across project teams and maintain a high level of individual contribution / job satisfaction
    • Assure quality of deliverables / installations
    • Schedule and drive internal and client meetings / reviews
    • Manage resource hours and outside expenses against budget
    • Oversee project accounting and contracting

    • 15+ years production experience (ideally within a creative/technology environment)
    • 5+ years in a managerial role with oversight of direct employees, specifically in a production environment
    • Deep knowledge and budgeting abilities
    • Deep knowledge and scheduling abilities
    • Deep understanding of workflow - process and personnel choices
    • Ability to see and execute strategy at the highest level (creative and logistic)
    • Deep experience in creative / technical endeavors to back up leadership in decision making
    • Strong leadership skills to be decisive and guide a team
    • Strong ability to guide client relationships
    • Fosters strong partnerships with Department Heads and / or their appointees
    • Is able to get out ahead of challenges with solid proposals to address them
    • Strong attention to detail and follow through
    • Ability to see the big picture - rise above the details to see and implement strategy (creative and logistic)
    • Ability to take the lead with clients
    • Highly developed ability to delegate tasks and manage staff (Executive Producers, Producers, Coordinators and Pas)
    • Aptitude and willingness to mentor staff
    • Identify, vet, negotiate with and hire freelancers and vendors necessary for project execution in partnership with creatives on team
    • Simultaneously manage internal team, vendors and client relationships

    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
