    Responsibilities

    The Event Production Director is responsible for production and technical aspects for more than 100 wide-ranging corporate, team, sponsorship, charitable and entertainment events annually.  Events include the Rangers and Knicks Season Opening celebrations, Rangers golf outing, sponsor-related events, Garden of Dreams charitable events such as Casino Night and Knicks Bowl, among othersl.  The position will also supervise production and technical aspects for internal events including meetings, trainings, conferences and executive-driven needs.

    The position will be responsible for all production aspects, including, but not limited to, the conceptualization and creation of the production, staging, lighting, audio visual, script-writing, run of shows, stage management and show calls. They will also be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of these elements on site, along with the management of load-in and load-out, show set up and rehearsals.

    Additionally, the position may be called on to provide event help and support for other events depending on the calendar and staffing needs.

    The Event Production Director will be required to maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, as well as always ensuring that the business unit’s goals and objectives are being met through events.

     

    • Responsible for the production and technical aspects in the execution of events for MSG Corporate, New York Knicks, and New York Rangers, the Rockettes, MSG Sports, MSG Live, MSG Productions, Garden of Dreams and other assets and departments as part of the Madison Square Garden Company
    • Work closely with the Events project lead to ensure the production elements are in complement to the overall event
    • Develop a detailed, exhaustive production event plan for each event, including look and feel, production schedule, run of show, script, show call documents
    • Consult and provide technical guidance including equipment, labor, and schedules to meet event scope
    • Meet with appropriate senior leadership and determine event requirements for teams, corporate, sponsorship, charitable and entertainment
    • Manage vendors being brought in to execute production and technical aspects
    • Work on other event-related logistics where required by the department
    • Work with Events team in the creation of post-event analysis that provides clients with a full account of event and potential opportunities for improvement in the future
    • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, while maintaining regular office hours

    Preferred:

    • Experience working in a corporate environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to evaluate and identify efficiencies across events and maintain the highest brand standards
    • 8 + years’ experience in events planning in sports and entertainment or a related field, with a minimum of5 + years of extensive experience in technical and production areas of events, including first-hand script-writing, stage management and show calling.
    • Experience in creating and directing corporate events in service oriented environment
    • Strong writing skills with a focus on script-writing and run of shows
    • Solid understanding of audio visual technology and advancements including lighting, audio/video, rigging, power
    • Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD (Vectorworks)
    • Familiarity with union labor rules

    Education

    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
