    Responsibilities

    The Manager is responsible for all accounting aspects of MSG’s food, beverage and merchandise business.  The Manager’s responsibilities will be categorized into the following areas:

    • Accounting for food, beverage & merchandise transactions after event has played-through, including month end accruals, reconciliations, revenue and expense reclass and analysis, balance sheet analysis, and journal entries.
    • Provide audit support including transaction backup as required for internal and external audit teams.
    • Quarterly External Reporting assistance – providing guidance for MD&A discussion and relevant supporting schedules.
    • Ensure that all products and events in the food beverage and merchandise systems are setup properly so that the flow of data is accurate
    • Special projects including but not limited to IT system testing and ad hoc information requests/analysis.

     


    Event Specific Accounting (70%)

     

    The Manager shall be responsible for all aspects of the accounting for food, beverage and merchandising transactions as relate to MSG’s live, sports and productions events including posting of revenue and accrual entries, analysis and reconciliation of P&L and balance sheet accounts by event based on documentation received from Finance team.  Additional accruals will come from sources including procurement system, and others.

    In addition, areas of responsibility also include the review & analysis of the posting of sales/COGS activity from our inventory system to the general ledger, the analysis of key balance sheet accounts, the review of analyses prepared by the staff and the analysis of food & merchandise event detail to ensure proper accounting.

    The Manager will prepare, distribute and review month end reports including the Trial Balance, mis-posted coding report and Variances report and rectify any issues identified therein.

    The Manager will be responsible for revenue and expense reclass and analysis on an event by event basis, and will collaborate with the finance teams to resolve any discrepancies between GL balances and estimated flash amounts of revenue or expense.

    The Manager will distribute financial reports including accrual summaries, YTD spending, and balance sheet reconciliations.  The Manager will assist in the preparation of monthly Controllers Letters and related schedules showing monthly, quarterly, and YTD results versus Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year.

     

    Audit Support (10%)

     

    The Manager shall provide audit support including transaction backup as required for internal and external audit teams.

     

    External Reporting (10%)

     

    Manager will assist in 10-Q and 10-K report inputs and review.

     

    Special Projects (10%)

     

    The Manager will be responsible for occasional AP, AR, purchasing, and expense report processes, system implementation testing and training, and ad hoc information requests / analysis

    Technical/Functional Competencies

    • Advanced analytical, accounting and financial skills are required.
    • Experience in monthly analysis reporting and monthly closes.
    • Must have strong Excel skills, with experience in HCM, Oracle, ADI, TM1, Infor and Coupa applications preferred.

     

    Key Experiences/Achievements

    • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
    • The individual in this position must be a self-starter, be organized, have a sense of urgency and a dedicated team player.
    • 4+ years experience and a Bachelor’s degree required (in Finance/Accounting preferred), CPA strongly preferred.

    Education

    Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
